Gilfach Goch 14–7 Tonyrefail A big crowd braved the dreadful conditions to watch an entertaining and hard-fought local derby between Gilfach Goch and Tonyrefail, with the home side eventually coming out on top 14–7. Despite the miserable weather, both sides produced a committed and physical contest, with neither team willing to give an inch. Gilfach Goch took their opportunities when they came, with Thomas Clayton and Dylan John both crossing the whitewash for tries. Josh Williams added the extras on both occasions, converting twice to give Gilfach their 14 points. The intensity of the derby was reflected in the discipline, with the referee showing two yellow cards during the match. Just before half-time, Gilfach Goch’s Reegan Nickson was shown a yellow card, leaving the home side temporarily down to 14 men. Tonyrefail also saw a player sent to the sin bin in the second half, with hooker Liam Banfield receiving a yellow card.
